🌀 The obstacle is the way
There ain't no way around it
The thing about an obstacle is that they get in the way.
Sounds like something Yogi Berra would say eh?
Here is what I mean…
I had a sales rep this week that was underperforming. I have a lot of time and money invested in training him, but I knew better than to fall prey to the sunken cost fallacy. Yet I was struggling with letting him go. I got others opinions. I waffled on the decision for a couple days. I was avoiding the pain of firing him.
Then I decided. I graciously let him go. It wasn’t that bad.
The same day I began looking for a replacement and found a rare gem of a candidate within hours.
Hired him the next day. After one day of training, the guy actually started selling which is wicked fast.
The obstacle of firing the poor performer was preventing me from seeing the rockstar.
By the nature of obstacles, they block what is on the other side.
And after going through many obstacles I have discovered 4 truths.
The only way is through or you remain stuck.
The obstacle blocks your ability to see better options.
The perceived pain of going through the obstacle is greater than the actual pain.
The other side of the obstacle is better than you can imagine.

P.S. What is the obstacle you are dealing with right now?
