🌀Au Contraire: Success is simple.

I said simple not easy.

But there is one sentence that will make you a multi-millionaire like it has for me. I’ll get to that in a minute.

Yesterday, I paid a driver to pick me up at 4AM to catch a 6AM flight. My plane needed some maintenance performed and I had to fly commercial to pick it up. When I got to the airport, they wouldn’t let me through security. Odd, but I don’t begrudge the government for being idiots… it’s just who they are. So I went back to the ticketing desk, and they said someone booked my flight to depart in two weeks. Turns out that somebody was me. It sucks being the idiot. So, they give me a 1-800 number to call… and it turns out it doesn’t do any good to yell at a computer recording in the middle of the airport parking lot.

I was angry and frustrated, and I spent a few minutes brooding and dealing with the flood of emotion that my day was fucked. But I recovered and was able to book a 7:45AM flight so I would only be a couple hours behind. Then I thought, I bet that 6AM flight isn’t full so I went ahead through TSA early and talked to the help desk to see if I could get on the original flight I thought I booked. There was a seat left. I got on the flight just before it departed.

If I had spent more than 5 minutes brooding I would have missed the flight.

When you get punched in the face… or you punch yourself in the face like I did… remember it is not the punch that will knock you out… it is how you react to it.

In business, your reaction time from setback to comeback is your rocket fuel. Your speed will define you… not the punch.

Now the second part of the sentence that will make you a multi-millionaire.

Years ago I was trying some ads on FaceBook and they weren’t working. It was frustrating. I was literally pissing away money. No clients. Just ad spend. I determined FaceBook ads just don’t work. Then someone asked me, “how many ads have you tested?” And I replied, “Oh, several… I am doing 5 or 6 right now. Then he proceeded to blow my mind. “You know the most successful marketers will test hundreds of variations of ads.”

And I replied, “Well, I don’t have that kind of money to test that many.” To which he rebuffed, “Oh no, they don’t spend but a few bucks on several ads a day, take the data, and cycle out the losers and then continually split test the winners until they can scale them.”

I began testing dozens of ads. And I found winners. I just did not realize my output was subpar. You may think you are working hard, but chances are there is someone out there putting in 10x the effort you are. It’s not your fault. You just don’t have the frame of reference to understand the amount of work you need to put in.

So the million dollar sentence…

If you want more success… increase your speed and increase your output.

That’s it.

I know it’s simple, but if you want more. You have to put in more… as fast as you can.

It’s why Elon blows up rockets as fast as the FAA will let him… he understands speed and output.
