🌀Au Contraire: Nobody gives a fuck

Everyone is out for themselves.

Nobody gives a shit about your dreams. Nobody is coming to save your ass.

Everyone is selfish.

We are all selfish sons of bitches.

But here is why your filthy selfishness is righteous.

…and how you can use other’s selfishness to fulfill your own selfish fantasies.

Give then take.

I got a bunch of salesmen that work for me. I pay them really good. Probably too good. And I hate every goddamn one of ‘em. Selfish bastards only care about making a buck the easiest way they can.

But it hit me…  even though I am already paying the dog snot out of them if I want better performance I need to incentivize them even more. I need to capitalize on their selfishness. I need to use it. They don’t give a shit about the company hitting sales goals. They only care about their sales commission.

After I restructured their bonuses, their performance skyrocketed… and that got me thinking. It isn’t just sales people that are greedy bastards. It’s everyone. Clients are greedy. Employees are greedy. Managers are greedy. This is the human evolutionary spirit. It has kept our species alive for thousands of years. It is survival of the greediest.

For instance, I know some companies put a lot of effort into telling clients “their story.”  We started in the basement, we grew, we made it, blah blah blah. No client gives a goat nut fuck about your story. You know why I know that?

Because they are selfish. They only care about what the fuck you are going to do for them. That’s it. And you better tell them quick. Skip story time, and tell them what is in it for them.

And to quote Gordon Gecko…  “Greed is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed in all its forms — greed for life, greed for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind.”

And for all you vanilla latte drinkin’ panninies that call greed evil, you just don’t quite get it. Because to be a successful and sustainable greedy bastard… you need to satisfy the greed of your customers and your employees before your own.

Their greed comes first.

Your clients only care about what you are going to do for them.

Your employees only care about what you are going to do for them.

Everything needs to be framed about what is in it for them. EVERYTHING. Every conversation. Every marketing piece. Every incentive.

Their ego comes first. For the meek (and manipulative) shall rule the earth.

You figure this shit out and you might be able to stack some yellow banded hundies.

So when you want something out of your clients or your employees… and in my best John F Kennedy voice impersonation…. “Ask not what they can do for you, ask what you can do for them.” (so you can get what you want later)

Altruism says to put others first. And that never fucking works. You need to put others greed first.

Selfishness is a virtue.
